点评：We were visiting friends who live in Exmouth, and they booked a table by the window a few weeks ahead of our visit. Apparently the pub has recently been taken over by new management - not a move for the better.
Our welcome was non-existent, we were told by a very sullen barmaid that our table was not a window one, but after we repeated our table had been booked some three weeks beforehand, we were pointed to a window table.
None of the staff were friendly, they all looked unhappy in their jobs and very unkempt. One member of staff took their break at a nearby table and was having a rather loud conversation, with whom we believe is a manager who was making a half hearted attempt to wipe tables down. Neither very professional.
Maybe the staff and management are new to the hospitality industry, and are overwhelmed by everything, but I'd guess the jaded attitude points more towards they just don't care?
Food was very average at best, and not very tasty.
It's a shame and shortsighted that they are not treating customers better than they are, as once the season is over, the management will need to rely on locals to maintain their business - and locals won't want to eat in a place where hygiene is poor and welcome is non- existent.
I know we certainly won't be going back there next time we visit, nor will our friends who live in the town.
