点评：Dix- Neuf is a wonderful cafe just 50 yards off High Street in St. Peter Port, Guernsey. Having come over on the ferry from St. Malo on an early morning in June and just
visited the incredible Victor Hugo House, we needed a nice place to eat. We were most fortunate to to find Dix-Neuf. It looked inviting so we gave it a try. Guernsey food we did not know but they had other western food as well. However, the Guernsey food was very good since it seemed to be a combination of French and British. Our server and the manager were both good about seeing that our was food and service were meeting our expectations.
We set off to explore the streets and shops of Guernsey, but again need an afternoon snack. We had so enjoyed Dix-Neuf for luch, we back for coffee/ tea/ hot chocolate and desserts. The creme brulee was excellent but the apple crumble we also got was just exceptional.
Our table allowed us to watch the gentle and civilized people of Guernsey walk slowly by. These people have managed to still find a way to slow down and live life in full measure. I managed to strike up a conversation with two lively ladies sitting at a table beside us. Since I had just watched the movie "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society " , I asked them if they had seen this. No they had not, but they had lived it. You see, Marion and Margaret were 86 and 90 years old. What incredible tales they told me that afternoon about the occupation of Guernsey during World War II.
A blue sky and good fortune rained down on me that day. Thank you.
