The Eastwood Inn的点评
点评：Every year I find myself seeking new experiences, yet ones which are reminiscent of the past. This quest isn't to recapture my actual past as much as it is to relive the dreams of the future I had during those days gone by. Sound confusing? It isn't. I think most of us grew up dreaming of what our lives would eventually become; dreaming of an adulthood which, when it finally became a reality, would often falls short of our dreams, thanks in changing times we never could of imagined. But don't get depressed just yet...
I dare say, NO child of the 60/70/80's longingly imagined a day when our world would be filled with sterile homogenization. A future where every store, restaurant, bar, neighborhood and moment was just a cookie cutter copy of the next. We grew up thinking of places and times which were unique, exciting, and if we dared... transformative! We dream of lives we saw on TV and in the Movies. Lives where everyone was above average and those imaginative glimpses became more than passing snippets before our eyes.
Welcome to the Eastwood Inn! Everything about it meets the expectations of exactly how "Past You" thought "Future You" would raise a glass and enjoy a meal with your crew, your family, or your date. For once, the moment you imagined 40 or even 50 + years ago (Yes, we are that old people) is exactly as it was in your head, right down to the old cigarette machine (Yes cig's were once sold without having a 17 year old clerk ask for your ID. Please, Go check your pre-PC memories and dreams, I'll wait ).
The Eastwood is a place where Steaks are thick, Scotch is neat, and time stands still just long enough to remind you your "adulthood" isn't over yet. The Eastwood is a perfect way to revisit the theater in your mind.
From the way you just have to "know" where it is (or pretend you don't rely on GPS just to go to the super market), to the speakeasy/private club vibe of the entryway, or the timeless retro-chic feel of the bar and dining area, untrammeled by a Madison avenue re-write of your imagination, you just know: this is the place.
You are transported to a time where Arnold Palmer could walk in at any moment and sit down at the table next to Frank, Sammy, and Dean (Who must be in Ligonier for the Scottish festival, fly fishing, or a pop-up concert in the Gazebo). But The Eastwood is far more than a mental movie set. The food is spectacularly elegant in its simplicity. You wont get a piece of vapid art on a plate which leaves you wondering why you are still hungry but your wallet is empty. No you will be treated to a fulfilling simplicity which is so perfect you'll know its a true "work" of art.
You will also get treated to customer service which makes you feel like Jack Torrance as he sits at the bar in the shinning. OK wait, that's creepy AF. I got carried away. You'll wonder if you have been here before while in the throws of a Lunesta induced sleep walking event. It feels as if everyone knows you, and has since forever. Your needs are all catered to without making you feel pestered. Drue and crew made me feel like I was a regular, even though I am only there a few times a year.
Ignore the people who think a great cocktail and perfectly done steak served in a "REAL' atmosphere, not one created by a "certified restaurant U/X designer, are eclipsed by the lack of of a 10 acre parking lot illuminated by a billion watts of orange light. This place is the same as it ever was, only better because it has survived the test of time. Arnold Palmer really did eat here, "his" table remains. The ghost's of previous owners/staff stand by and smile at how much remains the same, standing testament to a time when you knew "Smokey" poured your drink and he remembered you from your last visit(if you know you know).
If you know the value in treating yourself to things which live up to the expectation, things which allow you to step back to the future "Past you" always imagined... You wont be disappointed by The Eastwood.
