点评:The sign on the front says it was established in 1904 and I believe that because they don't make buildings this beautiful anymore. It's almost quaint in it's appearance with round windows and a biscuit-tin kinda look.
I could not work out why it was placed as it was on that corner on the angle it was, that was until I located some historical photographs that indicated that there was nothing next to it once. The horses and carts used to pull up to the post office on a gravel looking road. Somewhere between 1904 and 1921 they put curbs in and a roadway.
The Cobb&Co service from Gilgandra to Coonamble ended in 1898. Bill Rowley was given this mail run after undercutting their prices. A local hotel used to double as a post office and the gentleman running it earned a salary of 12 pound. This was all prior to this building being put there.
