点评：We were staying at The Frontier Motel and The Cheeky Sparrow Café was only a couple of minutes walking distance. It was Saturday, 4 January 2025 and we arrived there at 5pm – it was a full house due to school holidays! The ambience of this café felt like home, nice indoor setting, tables evenly spaced out and plenty of elbow room and the chairs were nice and comfortable. You can dine in or outside but it was a very hot, sticky day and the lady at the café was so accommodating, she simply got the chairs from outside, brought them inside and set a table for us – she was super busy but didn’t seem phased, she beamed the CCC (cool, calm and collective) at a professional level. The menu is not your typical menu, they actually think outside of the box and spiced a few meals up because… why not? Burgers: ‘Hawaiian’; ‘Fried Halloumi’; ‘Spicy Bean & Quinoa Patty’ and of course your typical burgers as well – served with sweet potato chips… who would have thought? Gourmet Pizzas: ‘The Cook’s Special’; ‘Surf & Turf’; Tuscan Chicken & Bacon’; ‘Ring Stinger’; Satay Chicken’; ‘’Peri Peri Chicken’ and of course the traditional pizzas. Pastas and curries are available and their scones, slices and cakes are all homemade. We decided to have pizzas. You order and pay at the counter – they accept both cash and card and it is table service. I ordered ‘Meat Lovers’ (BBQ base with pepperoni, cabanossi, shredded pork, topped with cheese and bacon). My daughter ordered ‘Supreme’ (tomato base with pepperoni, shredded pork, mushroom, onions, capsicum, pineapple, topped with cheese and bacon). My wife ordered ‘The Cook’s Special’ (tomato base with pepperoni, fresh chilli, onion, topped with cheese, feta and jalapeños). We all agreed that the topping was generous and cooked to perfection, the crust was thin and crispy and definitely the highlight of the pizzas. The chef came out to see if we liked our pizzas but was super happy that we ordered ‘The Cook’s Special’ and doubly impressed that we ate all our large pizzas. We also told him that the pizza crusts are exceptional – he told us that they don’t make the pizza crusts, they order them because they don’t have the time to make the pizza crusts… there you go but still delicious regardless. We love their cold drinks selection, we bought Bundaberg Tropical Mango and Traditional Lemonade – highly recommend these drinks, the flavours “packs a punch” and the company is Australian family owned! Or you can simply drink free filtered water, from their water dispenser which is available on a table with clean glasses on the side – it’s DIY. And if you’re looking for gift ideas, The Cheeky Sparrow also have an array of products (beauty products, candles made out of bees wax, mugs / cups, soaps, fashion accessories, paintings, clothes and so on) to select and purchase. We were lucky enough to dine at The Cheeky Sparrow because the café is only opened on Fridays (11.30am to 8pm); Saturdays (11.30am to 7.30pm) and Sundays (11.30am to 5pm). I highly recommend this place – the staff went above and beyond, super friendly and the food was absolutely outstanding and delicious with high quality ingredients at a fair price and we left with happy tummies and experience. In fact, my daughters went to the café the following day to have another pizza experience for lunch and yes… it was ‘The Cook’s Special’ again.
