BYOW Mondays” Our corking fee is waived Monday nights! Bring your favorite bottle of wine from your collection to enjoy with dinner.
Nowhere does it say with any symbol * to look for any exclusions. We all know about exclusions and what they typically mean, but there were none in print. With that being said, upon arrival, we were told that because we had the boardroom (with an oversized table for conversation) in the back of the restaurant (with no music), as a somewhat “private party”, that Monday discount does not apply.
To me, the “Birthday Boy,” I find this an invalid excuse. Fifty dollars to open two champagne bottles, plus 20% tip and 6% sales tax, was excessive when the obvious was stated.
This is what the phrase should have said:
“BYOW Mondays” Our corking fee is waived (*) Monday nights! Bring your favorite bottle of wine from your collection to enjoy with dinner (The asterisk would take you here).
The asterisk (*) should have implied; “Offer not valid with large groups and/or in a private room.”
To their credit, the food was very good.
