点评：We walked in the store and the salesperson said, “HEY! Welcome back! You brought your posse!” Ummm…huh? Turns out, one of our group has a doppelgänger in the area.
The three of us were on a girls’ weekend, meeting halfway in between our homes in Portland, OR, and northern CA. And Lillie Belle was on the list for an excursion. Little did we know that we were in for a unique experience.
We sampled. We talked. We learned where the chocolatier sources ingredients. We learned how the adorable “COVID bunnies” (chocolate bunnies with wonky, asymmetrical ears and surgical masks painted on their faces) single-handedly saved the business during the pandemic, allowing the owner to rehire all the staff. We found out that the chocolates that look uncannily like shiny marbles or pieces of art are painted with cocoa butter. We discovered that blue cheese actually does go with chocolate.
And we walked out with bags of beautiful, delicious chocolates that MIGHT be saved for Easter baskets. Or might not make it home intact. And we left with delightful memories of an unforgettable experience in tiny Central Point, OR, shared with an enthusiastic staff and the best of friends.
