点评：We called in just before 5pm, having been to visit the Workhouse. It looked very inviting from the outside and the kids were keen to play in the little play park. Sadly for them, this was restricted to under 5s. I wonder if this might be reconsidered to under 8's or under 10s? It was very cosy inside, with several different areas - a quieter snug, the bar area, a larger dining area and a small games room with pool table and darts. There was a new member of staff on that day (14th April) who we wanted to leave some praise for: he dealt with a sudden influx of orders --- from us and several others who'd chosen to order at the same time --- with aplomb; remaining cool and calm under pressure. We would also like to leave praise for the chef. The food exceeded our expectations -- beyond simply 'pub grub'. The children ordered chicken nuggets and chips. I think you should consider editing the menu to read: 'homemade chicken nuggets and hand cut chips' - they were excellent! My husband had the Cumberland sausage - also excellent; and after being slightly disappointed there was no scampi, I had one of the nicest steak and ale pies I've ever tasted! It was packed full of steak, the mash was impeccably smooth and the gravy clearly homemade. 5 stars! After the meal, the kids enjoyed an ice cream, then we spent a very fun half hour or so in the games room playing pool and darts. Overall, a solid 4 stars.
