点评:We visited Berwick-Upon-Tweed, which we’d been led to believe was a tourist town but was almost entirely closed on a rainy Monday, with only Greggs and WH Smith and, to be fair, a nice coffee shop or two, as the fare on offer. It took us about an hour to park because most of the car parks have a weird system I’ve never seen before whereby you have to buy a ‘parking disc’ from who-knows-where to avoid a parking fine. But you can only buy one from 3 or 4 hidden locations after you’ve parked your car. So, it appears that Berwick-Upon-Tweed wants to discourage tourists because, let’s face it, who could possibly guess the details of this arcane parking system? Eventually, we found a free car park, but we didn’t stay long. The town was closed. On a Monday. But I managed to take a photo of the scenery.
