点评：Given that since having children, I tend to avoid these places - as they just eat through my already limited money rapidly - my 3 year old spotted the rides outside and went running over, so I gave in and let her go on a few (as we were going home after a weeks holiday) whilst my partner walked around some of the other shops with my toddler. The rides were fine, all £1 (unlike Scarborough where many were only 50p) but this is the only one in the area so they have a captive audience. They seemed clean and didn’t have that “sticky” feel like some do. At this point I’ll mention that there were around 3 female staff stood around chatting for quite some time, they were holding cleaning products but didn’t seem to be doing anything, they also kept talking about customers - and not in a positive way, which I find pretty off putting and highly inappropriate. They certainly didn’t look friendly or approachable.
The ground floor was largely full of the coin pusher machines (mostly 2p but some 10p ones) the upstairs was closed off. There are machines for over 18’s only but just be aware, that these aren’t roped off or in a separate room and only have a tiny sticker on the machines saying over 18’s only. There was no one watching the area.
My little girl eventually got bored and left with Daddy and in came my hyper active toddler, he was walking around just looking at the machines and mostly putting his hands where the coins come out, since he’s at that “delightful” age where anything he finds goes in his mouth, I was trying to keep one step ahead of him. Some of the coin pusher machines had the odd 2p in the bottom, so if I discovered these, I took them out and put them back in the machines (as we discovered that coins are one of the favourite things to put in his mouth at the moment). When I did this, one of the staff members came over and very abruptly said “we don’t do that here, stop”. Slightly confused I said that I was just putting the coins back in the machines and was about to explain but she cut me off and said again that “people don’t do that in here, so stop or leave”. I was a bit confused that I was being told off for putting coins into a coin machine. She then went over to her equally delightful colleagues and told them to “keep an eye on me”. Which was completely unnecessary, as I wasn’t planning on staying somewhere where staff have a severe attitude problem. I left, leaving the coin I had taken out on top of the machine, as I was unsure where I was supposed to put it.
After a lovely week visiting areas in and around Scarborough, Whitby and between, this actually put a real dampener on it. We have had no bad experiences with staff elsewhere all week - quite the opposite in fact. So if you’re looking for good arcades and nice staff, go to the ones in Scarborough. Avoid this place.
