点评：This is a new and welcome addition to a Chorley dining scene, which is somewhat lacking. (Lots of great pubs, but not that many independent eateries).
Note: this restaurant is on Cleveland St, opposite the Flat Iron pub, not on Farrington St; so is actually an existing business, that has moved from a small cafe, into much bigger premises.
Hopefully it will be a successful venture, as it deserves to be.
The restaurant itself is quite big and tastefully decorated. It is dog friendly and has a nice casual ambiance.
Now to the menu: Like a lot of places these days, they have gone down the “small plates” route. A kind of British version of tapas.
Unfortunately, the menu is quite small, (unlike traditional Spanish tapas eateries) and is dominated by various dips/pita breads.
But, the quality of the homemade food is exceptional.
The Greek style ribs were delicious, with plenty of very tasty meat; but cramming them onto a “small plate” doesn’t really do them justice.
Please, just huge a slightly bigger plate, and maybe put a carrot or 2 on the side. They will then easily justify the £13 price.
My partner is vegetarian and, other than the dips and a few vegetable side dishes, there wasn’t a great deal to choose from. She ended up having the carrot dish, but it really was more like a side dish and was a bit lacking in presence; though was very tasty.
There were a few minor teething problems: there were no croquettes available, which, considering it’s a small menu anyway, shouldn’t occur.
And there was no Chain House beer on tap. But I think that was due to the brewery not delivering on time.
There is great potential here and the owner/chef is obviously talented.
Maybe just a few tweaks to the menu will take it to another level and reach the potential it obviously has.
