点评:We visited Bertram’s on Friday, just the two of us for a celebratory meal. We’ve been before several times but we had heard they had ‘ done it up’ so decided to go again.
The decor looked very nice though didn’t appear greatly different than previously other than getting in via the stairs as before it has been lifted only.
This time we didn’t see anybody in dressing gowns from the spa in the restaurant which was always a bug bear before, perhaps they’ve changed that too.
After ordering the drinks and discovering that they still don’t have an ale on the menu, yet serve it in the Lounge elsewhere on the site, we ordered the shared starter of salt and pepper squid, whilst waiting for the starter we were presented with side plates that were thrust at us so abruptly that my partner spilt her drink.
The started came but it was very mild and bland and the squid was very stringy and rubbery. When the waiter came to remove the plates he asked how it was and when we told him he simply said, let’s hope the starters are better.
Fortunately the main courses of salmon fettuccine and honey roast duck were very good and very tasty, there was plenty of salmon in the fettuccine. We enjoyed the meal and were welcomed nicely and most of the waiting staff were excellent but overall we were a little bit disappointed.

开胃菜上来了,但味道很淡,很寡淡,鱿鱼又硬又有嚼劲。服务员收拾盘子的时候问我们感觉如何,我们告诉他后,他只是说,希望开胃菜能更好一些。
幸好,主菜三文鱼宽面和蜜汁烤鸭非常美味,宽面里有很多三文鱼。我们很享受这顿饭,受到了热情的接待,大多数服务员都很棒,但总的来说,我们还是有点失望。
