点评:I have frequented the Akeman occasionally, as a Tring resident it’s not my usual venue. When in town my wife prefers the Bell. Today, after some shopping she suggested a change. We had a lovely brunch, very nice eggs Benedict . So we stayed and enjoyed some wine. My wife is disabled, one of her problems is that she gets very late warning of the need to use the toilet. She told me she needed to go, so I assisted her to the downstairs accessible toilet. When we got there it was occupied. This is not an issue. However, when the door opened it was a very clearly able man in his 30’s or 40’s ( for clarity, I am very aware that not all disability is visible) this chap was not visibly impaired. He walked about 10 yards and sat with his group. My wife went in to the bathroom but sadly too late. I had to join her in the toilet clean her and put her thankfully long coat on her, to protect her dignity. As we left the toilet another man from the same table went into the toilet. If anything this was a younger fitter man. I spoke to the staff and politely expressed my concern. Whilst very empathetic, the young staff members clearly didn’t feel equipped to address the issue. I went outside to manoeuvre my wife’s mobility scooter to ease her dignified exit. As I did, the table of 5 that included the 2 toilet using men. Watched and found the situation very amusing.
In short, the staff are too inexperienced to address such issues, the management aren’t providing training for such skills. But ultimately they don’t appear interested in attracting customers that behave appropriately .
It’s a shame because it’s a nice place but we probably won’t go back for a very long time
