点评：The Funky Monk is a hotel and restaurant situated along Epping High Road. We were greeted with friendly warmth by Albie and shown to a table of our choice. The decor is quite plush with intriguing wall lights and recessed lighting giving a romantic glow. The background music was pleasant and smooth. Armed with an Aperol Spritz and Pornstar Martini, we made our selection from quite a wide-ranging menu. Our starters comprised of seared scallops; chilli king prawns; and chicken liver parfait. All were perfectly prepared and presented with sublime flavours. For our mains we had a half lobster and fries; a prawn and crab linguine; and mahi mahi fish. Again, the flavours were great, and the preparation was faultless. This was baptised with a crisp Chenin Blanc, which complemented our meal splendidly. I then found room for dessert: apple tart drizzled with Amaretto. We concluded this culinary spectacular with lemon tea, cappuccino, black Americano, and black Sambucas. Plus, complimentary Sambucas from our gracious hosts - thanks, Albie. What made our dining experience unforgettable, apart for the exemplary cuisine, was the chat and banter with Albie and the staff. Thanks to all at Funky Monk for a great night in food, music, chat, and laughter. Our compliments to the talented chefs in the 'hott room' for their artistic endeavours. Based on this standard of service, friendliness, and culinary excellence, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to all who love good food and service in a convivial atmosphere.
