点评:My partner, mum and I booked to watch Thunderbolts*, which we were so looking forward to seeing. However, when we got to the till and scanned our QR code, the man asked us for our ID.
We were puzzled and shocked to hear that we needed ID for the film we wanted to watch. The two films that were showing were - Thunderbolts a 12A rated film and Final Destination: Bloodline a 15 rated film. Why was my age being questioned for these age rated films? Google AI Overview says “Cinemas may ask for ID to verify your age if they suspect you are under 15, the age requirement for 15-rated films.” I’m a 26-year-old woman and clearly don’t look 15-years-old.
Whilst we were looking for my ID, in that time he had the opportunity to check if identification was necessary. Once we finally found my ID, I then proceeded to walk towards screen 2 as that is where I reserved seats for the film. However, he said “no, you’re in screen 1” we were puzzled even further but complied with everything he asked us to do; as we thought maybe there must of been a mistake on the app. But he was incorrect and it was his incompetence made us miss the first 20 minutes of Thunderbolt*!
We are all extremely disappointed with the customer service we were given by this member of staff. Other staff members offered us tickets for another day, but that meant we would have had to leave the cinema there and then. This made us feel that we were in the wrong, when in fact we followed the staffs instructions. This was our only opportunity to watch the films together; we shouldn’t have to arrange to return to the cinema another day to watch a film they made us miss 20 minutes of and pay for more travel.
They need to train their staff better to ask customers for their ID when it is fully necessary and direct them to the right screen.
