点评：I visited Francos for a very special 90th birthday celebration for my mother. I had been there several times over the past years and always enjoyed exceptional food and service but this was my first time under new ownership. I could not have been more disappointed. Firstly, the restaurant was very cold and had no ambience whatsoever. I always had a Bellini before lunch in the past - this was now unavailable. The waitress was sadly lacking in experience. She didn’t know what the soup of the day was. At what is supposed to be the foremost quality restaurant in Clacton, I don’t expect myself and female guests of senior ages to be addressed as ‘darling’ or ‘guys’. The service was extremely slow even though only there was only one table of two diners apart from us. Only 50% of their main courses available even though it was their first day open for the week so you’d expect they’d have already had a delivery of provisions to start the weeks catering.
We all ordered lamb shank. Only then to be told they only had one portion. Which they then overcooked. I decided on the liver - which was extremely overcooked and inedible. I had pre ordered a small birthday cake. I was shocked when this arrived and it was shop bought from Morrisons. And to add insult to injury, I was even charged for it! Had it been home made, I wouldn’t have minded a small charge but in any case, I should have been notified in advance that the cake was to be shop bought and I would be charged. In which case, I would have declined in favour of home made desserts. On the plus side and to be fair in this review, I was not charged for the liver and the table had been decorated with birthday balloons, banner and stars. Overall, unfortunately Francos is now in my top 10 of worst restaurant experiences and I will never return.
