It's had to believe it's been open since 1936. It has an over 100 year old mahogany bar and a definite neighborhood tavern feel to it. The original owners were some hard-headed beer drinking Germans. Now they they have typical bar food that's done really well
They are known for their burgers and they are outstanding and they have classical Cleveland things like polish kielbasa dogs, pierogies, chicken Paprikash, barbecue, they really serve an upgraded game with all their food, the club sandwich has plentiful thick crisp bacon with fresh lettuce and fresh tomatoes. And most Fridays of course they have the classic Cleveland Friday perch fry. They really have a farm to table kind of philosophy. They get a lot of their meat and produce from the West side market and other local markets. They have tons of local beers.They have daily food specials and a wide variety of draft beers and whiskey and cocktail. So each burger is fresh and made from scratch as well as other meat entrees. This last time I went with an old high school friend, They have an outdoor patio area as well
If you go early enough parking should not be an issue or a late lunch. It can be busy with a line, depending day and time.. Try to check with them and go on a day and time that are not busy. Also "to go' or Urber, might be a good option. It's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working.
You can dine on on the wonderful food smells. I'm sure it reflects the owners interests and taste. I just smiled as I looked around and thought that I was in bubble of time.
The service was fast and efficient and the food came quickly. Good food and reasonably priced with cold beers, so what's not to like.
