I used to consider Marriott’s, Hilton’s and IHG’s limited service properties as very similar. Not anymore. Fairfield Inn has really gone downhill - cheaply decorated rooms (no alarm clock, no mirrors outside of the bathroom, only bulk toiletries, etc) and truly catastrophic breakfast (no bagels or toast, really?!), forcing you to dine elsewhere. I get that this isn’t the hotel’s fault, but rather Marriott’s, but it still affects my experience. In addition, our room was poorly cleaned and had lousy water pressure (as well as some maintenance issues, including a non-functioning toilet flusher and a loose toilet seat). I’ve switched all my stays to Hilton and IHG since they offer a far superior guest experience in their limited service properties. The ONLY reason I can come up with for continuing to patronize Fairfield Inn is if you get a really good deal or if you’re 100% committed to Bonvoy. Otherwise, I would highly recommend switching to Hilton or IHG.
