点评:St Bees Head is a beautiful coastal headland with magnificent red sandstone cliffs (90m high), a lighthouse, rocky coves, and RSPB viewing points where we saw thousands of nesting seabirds. You can see for miles - up and down the coast, inland to the Lakeland fells, and out to sea even the hazy outline of the Isle of Man.
We had no idea Cumbria has such wonderful coastal scenery - it feels Cornwall or Pembrokeshire.
We made a whole-day walk of it. Parked at St Bees Beach for £5, had a quick look in St Bees Priory (great Norman arch), followed a track through St Bees School grounds, parallel to the railway for a mile or two, up through Sandwith village and across fields to the clifftops overlooking Whitehaven, then simply followed the coast path back to St Bees - with stunning views every step of the way.
