点评:Been to JoLo several times over the last three years. It was always very, ,very good, now it is even better. The staff tell me a new chef has come and revamped the food and the kitchen. What was excellent before is now even better. The goat cheese appetizer is even more flavorful, the only complaint is that I did not ask for a spoon quickly to get all the sauce. Oh it is good. The two entries, both seem new to the menu, first: steak tips and frites. Wonderful flavor, cooked just right, frites are fun, a special mayo for the frites (though catsup was also present) a delicious meal. The other entree was salmon scampi. Again the meat was cooked just right, the sauce was fabulous, the potatoes a wonderful support, the shrimp were a nice addition and the green beans were as good as I have had. All in all, this ranks as one of the best single entrees I have had.
The staff paired the wines, wonderfully well we got four difference ones and they were terrific. JoLo wines have always been good, these are now maturing and are really superb, not just as a wine, but as a mate for the food.
The setting is still absolutely gorgeous, the staff impeccable, that just right balance of engaging and leave you alone to enjoy the food. The owner came by twice, to discuss the food, the wine glasses and why they were selected. Truly a remarkable experience.
However there was one disappointment. We asked for Hummingbird cake. What we got seemed like a carrot cake, it was dense, dark, good flavor but not a hummingbird cake. It was good, just not what we had anticipated. And, the waitress said it was big enough for two, she underestimated... it was big enough for four.
This was far and away the best experience we have had at JoLo in the three years we have been going. It is out of the way, and the drive is a challenge. 90 minutes each way for us. it reduces it from regular to very special occasions.
