点评:Both Upper and Lower Falls are now open (reopened May 31, 2024). 2 primary choices, taking the loop which is about 3.6 miles total or out and back the River Trail which is about 2.6 miles round trip. The River Trail no longer follows close to the creek as is the past and has been made into more of a full lane gravel road as the Park system had to make changes to improve the safety of the trail to the Upper Falls. (Many serious injuries and a few fatalities over the years necessitated these changes-remember the rope you had to use to get to the Upper Falls in years past?-and they’ve really done a great job in doing it). They’ve now replaced that dangerous route with a series of 530 steps and a 40 foot steel tower that was an ingenious idea to traverse the steep route. Some purists have found fault with all the work required to make this safer for everyone but it still preserves the falls themselves and allows many more people to now make it to the Upper Falls. It’s still not for the faint of heart or those scared of heights but well worth it. I would not recommend going to the upper falls when it is wet however. Great job NPS!!!!
