点评：We’ve been going to Root & Vine for years and always enjoyed it. We’ve introduced many friends to the place by taking them with us. We drive around an hour round-trip to go there. We especially enjoyed the patio in summer because it was mostly shady and plenty of room between tables. We arrived last visit to see a sign they had moved. Went to the new building and asked for the patio. It was maybe a third of the former patio with even more tables crammed together. We were so close to other people we could follow every word of their conversation and altogether the diner’s created a somewhat loud buzz, similar to a cramped bar. This was not just a table to near, but tables in every direction that were extremely close. We told ourselves it’s the food we came for and ordered.
Every single visit the last few years I ordered the fresh fish special, but had them hold the sauces and other things listed on the menu as we like fish, naked simple fish. I was immediately informed by the waitress “the chef doesn’t allow any changes to this item, because it takes time to customize it for each patron!” I was incredulous and asked the waitress to ask the chef since I didn’t ask for any special fixings, just to leave off the toppings. She came back and informed us the chef wouldn’t allow that. Unbelievable!
We should have walked right then but ordered something else we didn’t really want or enjoy. We won’t be back unless we hear they’ve come to their senses and care enough about their customers to make minor changes to a dinner item, especially at their price point.
