点评:It’s Sunday, October 1st, and my wife and I are at Havana 33 for brunch. We’ve been here several times before, it’s always been pleasant with good, completely competitive pricing. We had, however, forgotten about the establishment’s policy of all checks having a 20% gratuity added—no questions asked. In fairness, there’s a note posted on the front door declaring the policy. Well, you may be able to guess that this is not my idea of doing business in a service business. I would like some clarity why this policy is required/necessary/NOT a disincentive to patronize Havana. No, I’m not looking for a profit/loss statement or a history of pay scales or salary levels per job description. I would like to know who benefits from the policy beyond, obviously, the establishment. Given that Havana is under no obligation to share anything with its clients I think my solution is to go elsewhere.
