Ocean Boulevard Bistro & Martini Bar的点评
点评：We did not feel comfortable at this restaurant as African Americans. We were initially told we could only sit outside or at the bar which was understandable as we did not have a reservation. However, when my husband came in after me he was told rudely by the owner to “Go outside. They’re outside”.
After sitting outside, there were so many flies it was hard to enjoy the meal. I went to the hostess and asked if any tables had opened up and she said yes which was confirmed by another hostess. However, the owner rudely came over and said no we could not move. We had to sit outside. It was very clear that there was a table open, but for some reason we were not allowed to sit inside. Perhaps it was because of the color of our skin. The tell for me was when the staff apologized and appeared embarrassed for the owners behavior. Patrons that sat down near us also seemed embarrassed stating this is “how she is”.
The appetizers we had were not even good. The beef tips tasted like old meat. I could only stomach one bite. The “bruschetta” was interesting…not sure I would call it good or even bruschetta, and it only included one piece of soggy bread. The lemonade, which is hard to mess up, was horrible. It had that weird aftertaste of lemon juice and seemed to have no sugar at all.
Clearly, we won’t be back, but I’m pretty sure that was the owner’s intent.
