点评：The title says it all. The vintage house has been our go-to favorite restaurant in the whole area. It has been our choice for special and celebratory dining. It has been the place that we've given our highest recommendation, but tonight it definitely failed on nearly every aspect.
We arrived with reservations for a birthday dinner on a Tuesday night. We were immediately seated but then we were left with no service or attention for 10 to 15 minutes, despite no one else being in our section and only two tables of diners in the opposite section. When the waitress returned with water we placed an order for calamari which arrived in a reasonable time. Kudos for a creative presentation, but the calamari was flattened into strips with a soft seasoned . The garlic sauce was a treat but the overall dish would be better in a more classic recipe presentation. We ordered entrees and then we were left unattended and unaddressed for 50 minutes. Our meal was delivered by someone other than our waitress and we commented on the delay. We were told that well, the kitchen is shorthanded. That observation was proven in the meal itself. The salmon entree was grossly overcooked and dry. The scallops and the shrimp dish was hardly room temperature from sitting so long. While there were potentially enjoyable flavors that could be teased from both dishes, neither was anywhere near the previous standard of the vintage house. Wanting to do the right thing and provide direct feedback in person. I was again disappointed not to find a host or a manager anywhere to talk to.
This was clearly a night of management failure. At no time did a waitress, a host, kitchen staff or a manager explain the long delays other than the brief comment when the meal was delivered.
We cherish this restaurant for the quality of food and service we've had in the past, but it will be a while before we return hoping that management can correct the many shortcomings we found in our visit tonight. No one will pay the $250 we did for the poor quality and service provided on this visit. If these corrections aren't made, the restaurant will have no hope of surviving which will be a real loss to us and to the community. Here's hoping tonight was truly a one-off disaster for the restaurant but I'll proceed with caution until I read consistent reviews of improvement.
