点评：It is the highest in NC although the outdated claim to fame being the highest east of the Mississippi remains a popular tourist draw!
However, Lake Glenville does offer boating and bass fishing. Without a floating device, large or small, you are limited to wooden pier fishing, a sandy area with pit toilets and a steep hike to waterfalls below the dam. Wildflowers are nice in spring along the trail. Check water quality before swimming and mind the old guys sunning in speedos!
While it was the highest east of the Mississippi when built in 1941 at 3494' in elevation, others built since are higher and less exploited, as anyone who has traveled much might realize. The highest lake east of the Mississippi may now be Spruce Knob Lake in WV at 3840' built in 1952 for fishing with limited boat access. Laurel Bed Lake in VA at 3600' was built in 1967 is also great fishing with limited boat access. Lake Tear of the Clouds is a small natural lake in Essex Co NY at 4293' in elevation.
