A scenic park with waterfalls, well-developed trails, nice tent campsites, and clean, modern amenities.
South Mountains State Park的点评
点评:The title says it all. Although the park is not near any major city, many people come for a day trip to hike, picnic, or enjoy the river. Our first day of hiking was in the rain, but easier trails alongside the rivers and creeks are largely graveled, so they weren't muddy or too slippery. The rain filled the rivers and creeks, so the next day the waterfalls were in full flood. We camped in a tent. The restroom was clean and had hot water and nice showers. The tent pad was fine gravel that drained well. The camp had just made a new trail, Big Bear Trail, that begins 0.3 miles west of Jacob Fork Parking Lot, just before the loop trail crosses Shinny Creek, and goes 0.2 miles along Shinny Creek to Big Bear Falls. The highlight was going up to High Shoals Falls (500 feet elevation gain) on the loop trail. Wifi is available at the Visitors Center, and mobile phone servers was available at that location, but the campground and valleys in the park are without mobile data or phone service.
亮点是在环形步道上上升到 High Shoals Falls(海拔增加 500 英尺)。
