Luigi's Pizza的点评
点评：I wish I could rate them by individual menu items because I'd give 5 stars for most cheese or cheese and meat pizzas, sandwiches, calzones and strombolis, a one star for veggie or 12 inch pizzas.
I'm a NY City born Italian girl, grew up in NY and suburbs. Nothing anywhere outside of NY area is EXACTLY like NY pizza. This is the closest it gets for the area, the crust, sauce and cheese taste right and you can see them hand toss the crust as they make the pizza. The stromboli and calzones and sandwiches are very good as well.
I have 2 issues with them though. One is that when you order any kind of veggies on your pizza they don't add them before baking. After they bake it they dump the wet veggies on top in uneven splotches that make the pizza very unappealing and disgusting to look at or eat. Meats do seem to be added before baking.
The other is that if all you want is the personal 12 inch size this seems to anger them. They don't act angry, they just give you a pizza that looks more like a Jack's frozen pizza than a fresh one with very little crust or cheese, even if you order extra cheese. This happens at the Whitehall location, not the Steelecroft.
Other than that Luigi's makes very good pizza. For my money, if I'm getting a cheese or cheese and meat pizza, I'll happily pay a few extra dollars for Luigi's so that taste is right. Just don't order any veggies on your pizza unless you're looking to spoil your experience. If it's too far away for you I'd try Topper's, they make a good pizza because they try to make a good pizza rather than try to make a NY style pizza.
