A very nice stop along the parkway with a view of Looking Glass Rock

点评：The Blue Ridge Parkway is a 470-mile-long roadway that meanders through the mountains and connects the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina. The parkway boasts about 170 official stops along the path. This site is one of these many stops. It is a basic paved pullout along the south side of the road with a grey wooden informational sign stating that the elevation is 4300 feet and that Cherry Cove is 1000 feet below. It is a nice open view without many trees to obstruct it and no amenities. You are looking most toward the east across several valleys and hills. I think that this would be a good place to see in the morning with the sin rising across the hills. The National Park Planner website states that this location offers an “expansive, 180° vista”. Part of the view is Looking Glass Rock. This is the one slightly to the south (right) as you look over the mountains. It has sheer cliff faces and is very unique. This is a nice stop along the parkway with a unique view.
