A memorable experience but with disappointing aspects

点评：Beautiful lodge and surroundings. All very well cared for and was a relaxing experience in general. The bird song at all times was wonderful to hear - we saw more types of birds on the lodge than on the excursions. The hammack area overlooking the river was lovely too.
However, the breakfast (except for the lovely fresh fruit) was extremely poor - no nice bread, sponge cake that was very heavy and uncooked in the middle, and no milk! It was powdered. The other meals when a buffet type was reasonable.
All the waiters and bar staff (esp Marcelo) were very kind and gentle indeed, always a smile on their face.
Regarding the actual Amazon experience, it was beautiful walking through the rainforest, although all the excursions were done on the surroundings - it wasn't very spontaneous either. All the monkeys on Minkey Island only came out as they were expecting food, in the same way that the Caiman approached us in Cocha Caiman as the guide had brought a bag of fish. it wasn't the most natural experience, but I imagine it has to be like this, otherwise you may never see anything!
I think it is easy to make the mistake of expecting you'll see many animals and birds when coming to the Amazon. (It wasn't actually ON the Amazon river !!) You need to realise that it's not always the case.
The man in charge - Percy was not particularly friendly - at times, it felt as though we were on an army camp -ordering us where to sit, giving us the itinerary for the next day in a very brusque, military way. This is not what you pay for at a place like this. I suggest for the reputation of the place, he change his attitude.
If any of the Greek group who were there while I was (10-13 agosto 2024) should be reading this, some of you were a disgrace, with a vey rude attitude to the workers in general and very loud. I think you chose the wrong type of holiday - you'd have been better off in Benidorm.
