Very disappointing...
North Luangwa River Lodge & Camp的点评
点评：I am very disappointed to have not received a response from the lodge yet, after trying on multiple occasions to contact them about our experience. We visited them in the middle of July this year, and have yet to receive a reply.
This lodge has a lot of potential given it's location on the river with great views, but when you are charging guests $200 per unit/night on a self-catering basis and your facilities are not provided or up to scratch, you need to understand that this is not acceptable.
The lodge itself is run down and needs some TLC, as well as some basic maintenance like fixing a toilet seat, re-hanging missing blinds to close up the open-air room, replacing mosquito nets with holes in them, to name a few. Not to mention, the loud Diesel pump to get water from the river to the lodge, which is placed in front of the units and gets turned on at 7am (not the quiet, tranquil wake up you expect in this kind of location).
Our stay was sold on a "self-catering" basis and we were told to bring all our food. It was not made clear that we would need to bring along all our own crockery, cutlery, and in our case our own cooking surface to make our food. At this nightly rate, one would expect self catering facilities at each unit, or at least decent self-catering facilities with a washing up area, seating area with some atmosphere, and a clean surface to prepare your food.
The property has a small fire pit (with no seating area, so bring along our own chairs) at the back of the lodge in an enclosed area, with an adjoining small kitchen, where the staff prepare their meals. This is the facility offered to guests to make use of during their stay (there was also no electricity in this kitchen when we were here, so bring your headlamps too). Had this been explained prior to booking, I would have opted out for a more inclusive experience, at the same price.
We booked for 3 nights and left after 1 night, and after talking with other industry members and properties in the area, they all seemed to have heard this same story from other guests before. Very disappointing...
