点评:Last Wednesday we had dinner at Northridge, the newly opened restaurant at the Wolverton Inn in Stockton.
I had been waiting months for this occasion. Back in warmer weather I had attended a tended event for a local nonprofit held on their grounds. The Wolverton Inn is spectacularly landscaped. They even have a pen with sheep. I heard they would be building and opening a restaurant on the premises. It opened about two months ago.
The building is spectacular. It looks like it has been there at least a century, but lots of it is new construction. The reception area features a glassed in fireplace with comfy bench type seating. The staff at the reception desk were very welcoming and checked our coats.
The dining room is high ceilinged and airy. There is a fireplace at the end of the room. The chefs menu is built around three courses, appetizer, entree and dessert. As I recall. It was $55 for two courses or $70 for three. Our server explained you can mix and match however you choose. Each category has three or four choices. Our server offered us “the famous Stockton well water” also known as tap water. (No attempting to upsell bottled water.)
I chose the crispy duck appetizer, which arrived on a puff pastry casing. I liked it. This was preceded by a trio of small dishes, an amuse bouche.
My entree was a loin of lamb with accompanying vegetables and potato. It was towards the well done side.
My dessert was their chocolate mousse, which was served with fresh whipped cream. It was nice. There was also a choice of apple crumble or fresh fruit.
One of the major benefits is their BYOB status. You are pairing your own wines with their entrees.
Service was excellent. They were very attentive.
Are there negatives? Perhaps the entree might have been more towards the rare side, but I assume the chef knows what they are doing.
I would like to return.
