点评：I had the unfortunate experience of dining at Sofia's in Margate, and I can confidently say that it was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. The problems began right from the moment we walked in. Despite having a reservation, we weren't seated until a whopping 45 minutes past our reservation time. It's as if our time meant nothing to them.
To make matters worse, the waiter informed us that they were out of their famous cheese Saganaki. How can a restaurant be out of one of their signature dishes? But we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and placed our orders anyway.
Little did we know, the nightmare was far from over. We ordered two mixed grills, only to be told moments later that they couldn't be made because they were conveniently "out" of a crucial ingredient, chicken. When we suggested doubling up on another item to replace the missing one, they agreed, only to retract their offer five minutes later, claiming that the steaks were frozen and needed to be thawed. It's almost like their kitchen is a scene from a sitcom where everything that can go wrong, does.
Frustration had reached its peak by this point, so I decided to speak to the manager. I explained that we were there to celebrate a birthday and that we understood the challenges the restaurant industry is facing, but this was beyond unacceptable. The manager's response was shockingly lackluster. Instead of offering any solutions or even a simple apology, she said, "well it is a Saturday night in the summer" and then finally asked what she could do to make it better. I suggested removing a couple of items from the bill as compensation, only to be met with the cold reply, "we don't do that here."
So, there we were, hungry, frustrated, and utterly disappointed. After being seated and placing our orders a whole hour after our reservation time, we were left with no choice but to walk out. It's clear that Sofia's has absolutely no respect for its customers' time or satisfaction. The excessive number of reservations they accept seems to have stretched their capabilities to the breaking point, leaving diners like us with an unforgettable and unpleasant memory. Save yourself the headache and avoid this disaster of a restaurant at all costs. It is a shame Margate does not have more restaurants but I would rather spend more money where I feel like a valued customer such as Steve and Cookies than be taken advantage of by this establishment again...on the bright side, when we told the restaurant we would be leaving after only receiving a Diet Coke for my pregnant wife, they said "don't worry, it's on the house."
