点评:Went today right at opening. We were literally the first ones there due to a snow storm. We ordered drinks & food in the usual way. I don’t eat dairy so, I asked for pizza, no cheese, extra sauce with eggplant as topping. They have a hummus appetizer on the menu so, I thought it reasonable to ask for a blob of hummus (to dip my pizza crust in). Went to the ladies & while I was gone, our server returned to the table to explain that the chef said no about the blob of hummus. When my dining partners explained what they had been told, I thought they were joking. Server came to let us know food should be out soon & reiterated to be the hummus situation. I said “ok, how about put the hummus on there & charge me for more eggplant”. She went back to the chef & was told no. So, we sat awhile longer & had time to chat about this weird situation, we were likely overheard by the owner because he came by to explain that they are simply too busy of a restaurant to make these types of substitutions. The kitchen would get overwhelmed & off track especially when busy. So, he would NOT allow the hummus. Odd! Why argue this? Especially since we were the first order of the day & they weren’t even busy,,the reason he was giving me wasn’t even currently valid.
Food arrives & we start to eat. So, of course, my pizza is lukewarm at best & husband’s nachos were cold :( Most of everyone’s food was as expected except ours. Server came to check how it all was so we were honest. I didn’t ask for my pizza to be remade, I simply asked for a reduction is price (totally valid since it wasn’t even hot). Husband got his nachos remade & they came back perfect, gooey hot,,stringy cheese & crispy chips. That was a relief for his at least. Server was so apologetic! I felt bad for her. The bill came & our food had been taken from the bill!
So, the owner wouldn’t allow a substitute item that was worth $2 at best but he wiped $35 of food off, no problem? We still tipped our server on what the bill should have been because she was great!
The character that the owner displayed is not conducive to a welcoming environment. I can’t go back even though the bill was adjusted. It wasn’t about the money, it was about doing what’s right so the patron feels taken care of which, I certainly did not.
