点评：Parwana is reputed to be an Adelaide institution so when asked, I was happy to join a friend for dinner. Unfortunately, for me, there was quite a bit to not be happy about.
We waited a while and when no glasses were brought for our BYO, I had to ask for them, but my glass had the tell tale tack of the previous user, so polished it myself with water from my water glass and my napkin. Not a great start.
Food was Fried Fritters to start, which I found dense, heavy and crumbly with the veg underdone. Then Dahl (which I thought was the best of the dishes we ordered), lamb stew which was also pleasant but really unremarkable in its plainness, and pan-fried chicken pieces. This dish was a train wreck for me, completely dried out thigh chicken (it’s actually hard to get to that stage), tossed with some mix of things which I wasn’t even interested enough to investigate. It was lukewarm but still quite warm further in the pile, so what does that tell you?
Naan was ordered too but it and the naan served with the train wreck were different and I am sure I saw similar at the Central Market the day before, ergo, it was not house made, not as fresh as it should have been and had the familiar texture of re-warmed bread.
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a while. But what do I know. The punters kept pouring in. I left having not a clue as to why. No need for a return visit. A waste of money.
I like to balance the scales of over patronised establishments when it’s deserved. Suggest readers go to a true family run institution, Jasmin Indian. Fine food and professional service. It will cost you more but you won’t leave disappointed.
