Historic Hotel Needs Love

点评：This hotel is beautiful outside, in the lobby, bar area, and restaurant. The Christmas decorations also added to the elegance of the decor. All of the staff we interacted with were very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the historic photos of the hotel and guests that lined the hallway walls. Unfortunately, as soon as you walk into the hallway, it is obvious that this hotel needs some attention. The hallway carpet needs to be replaced. It is stained in many places, is rumpled up in several places, and is a tripping hazard. I know this because I tripped on the rise in the carpet as I was walking down the hall. Fortunately, I did not fall. Our room was a nice size, clean (because there is no carpet in the room), and the bed was very comfortable. However, the room was not what I expected. I paid extra for a Gulf view. I had a sliver of Gulf view, but I mostly had a great view of the huge tree in front of the hotel. The website shows very nice bathrooms with a large vanity. They do not have any photos of the bathroom we got. I have attached a photo of our sink with no vanity. It was touching the wall, and it was impossible to dry your hair and look in the mirror without hitting your arm on the wall. There is no place to put cosmetics except the back of the toilet. Lastly, if you request a Gulf view, you will be on the front of the hotel which faces a very busy Hwy 90 where people like to race loud motorcycles and cars late at night.
