点评:Six of us had dinner at Eric Nittolo's newest effort in town. Our reviews are mixed.
The good: "Grandma's Rigatoni" was (as advertised) full of homemade meatballs and excellent sausage. I got the "medium" sized entree, with the expectation I would take some home. Curiously, some of the rigatonis were broken up, piece-like. It was also HUGE. So much so that my wife and I easily could generously split it the next night as leftovers. The Eggplant Parmesan was also quite good. However, the eggplant slice was thick and rather tough.
Service was very slow and inconsistent. Two of us arrived a few minutes early and had their drinks already. When the remaining four arrived, we waited a long time to be able to order our drinks. My Old Fashioned was passable, my wife's cocktail (from the "specialty" list) was fair. After putting in our dinner order we waited again. Two Caesar salads arrived. Wait. My mozzarella app arrived. Wait. Then the raw oysters, which my bro-in-law remarked were not cold (or served on ice) and lacking enough cocktail sauce. Interestingly as well, though I had ordered the rigatoni it had a LOT of sauce--the server never asked if we would like bread for the table which would have been perfect to sop up some of the "gravy."
Oddly, they have NO decaffeinated coffee, espresso or regular. Given that we were finishing dinner, none of wanted a jolt of caffeine that late in the evening.
Ambience is modestly noisy. It's certainly not a location for an intimate dinner, but that's not the vibe they're trying to create. So, just be aware.
All that said, we might be back, if for no other reason than to order the rigatoni for take-out, and to try the pizzas, as the pizzas at Nittolo's other restaurant in Lake Leelanau are superb and TC could use a NY-style pizza place.
