点评:What to say about my stay at the Courtyard in Grand Rapids—it definitely changed the way I view housekeeping and how I stay in hotels.
First the basics--the hotel was nice enough and parking was easy. The staff were friendly and the location is good—easy to get to the DeVos Center via the skywalk and near a lot of great restaurants.
What overshadowed all of that was a terrible experience I had with the housekeeping team. I came back to my room one afternoon following my work meetings and was brushing my teeth and looked down and noticed a toilet brush on the bathroom counter. Now I can understand it being forgotten—people make mistakes. But why on Earth was a toilet brush on the counter. Further, it was laying on top of my hairbrush and comb. Why? Why would the housekeeping staff place it there? It completely freaked me out and isn’t something I’ll soon forget when traveling—I’ll definitely be placing very few items on the bathroom counter from now on. And I will always, always remember to put the do not disturb sign up—I don’t ever want housekeeping in my room again.
I had to call down to the front desk three times before someone finally showed up to pick up the toilet brush. I had to sanitize the bathroom counters myself with Clorox wipes I went and bought at the dollar store down the street (on the same shopping trip where I bought myself a new hairbrush and comb—all unplanned expenses). The front desk staff did apologize and did give me bonus Bonvoy points and a free breakfast voucher, but honestly, even two weeks later, I’m still just really freaked out by the whole experience and feel very distrustful of what goes on when housekeeping is in the room. I travel a lot and this is going to stay with me for a long time. Way to go Courtyard Grand Rapids.
