点评：On Monday, June 5, 2023 I went to Soma Restaurant to meet some elementary school teachers from a local private school for drinks and appetizers. When I walked in, I tried to take a seat at a table near the bar. The manager, Israel, asked if I had a reservation. I said that I was just meeting a few friends for drinks and appetizers. Israel wanted to know how many people would be coming. I told him that I did not know, but I thought it would be about 10 people total. Just then another teacher walked in. We sat down at the bar and ordered a glass of wine. When a third teacher arrived, Israel told us that we could sit at a table in the dining room, but that we could not sit at the bar. I explained that we would only be staying for about an hour and explained that we would be leaving before the dinner rush. By now, five other teachers had arrived. Despite the fact that we were all extremely polite, and that we were the only guests in the restaurant, Israel told us that we had to leave. We ended up going to another restaurant where we spent a considerable amount of money and left a large tip. At 5:30 I went back into Soma to discover that the bar area was almost completely empty. Clearly, there would have been room for us to stay. I can honestly say that this is the first time in my 65 years when I have felt such discrimination. It is also the first time I have ever written a letter of complaint. Not only did Soma turn away ideal customers, but Israel's rude and disrespectful demeanor guarantees that none of us will ever return.
