点评：My wife and I dined at 7556 Main Street after I read reviews on Trip Advisor. We don't live near Sykesville, MD but were there for a few days watching our daughter's house. I thought the restaurant was new as there only were eight reviews on Trip Advisor, seven of them Excellent. We were surprised to learn that they have been in business for several years, and I assume the paucity of reviews is because most of their patrons are local and not travelers.
In any case, the food was fantastic. My wife started with a garden salad and I with the creamy French onion soup. The salad was straight-from-the-garden fresh. The creamy French onion soup was far from the usual restaurant version laden with bread soaking in bullion and covered with a slab of cheese. Instead, melted cheese on french bread slices were placed on top of a creamy onion base, and it was great.
For entrees, my wife had what she called the best crabcake ever, a large cake almost entirely of fresh crabmeat, very little filler, and fresh vegetables. I had meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Meatloaf might seem like a strange choice in a good restaurant, but it is one of those foods that most places screw up completely. The consistency of this meatloaf was perfect. It was light to the fork and moist; it didn't crumble. And the flavor was perfect. it tasted like high-quality beef, not like meat-product with filler as in most places. It was slightly crusty on top, as a good meatloaf should be. It may have been the best meatloaf I have ever had anywhere.
We didn't have room for dessert, unfortunately. But maybe next time we will. And there definitely will be a next time. We are going to reserve a table for us, our daughter and her husband for their anniversary later this month. This place is in a small town but well worth a slight detour from Routes I-70, 97 or 32.
