Eighteenth to Nineteenth Century Mill Village hidden along the banks of Broad Creek
Mill Green Historic District的点评
点评:Mill Green Mill, the centerpiece of Mill Green Historic District, is on the west bank of Broad Creek and dates from the 18th Century. The Mill represents the agricultural and industrial pursuits of county residents at the time. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. Comprising the 'village' are structures dating from 1770 such as the miller's house and more recent Victorian structures built into the late 19th century. The current Mill was rebuilt in 1827. Although recognized as a national historic district, Mill Green structures are all privately owned. There are places to pull of Mill Green Road in order to get a view of the Mill and other houses, but one is discouraged from roaming through the private grounds. Some of the 19th Century homes are said to have been a hotel, a post office and a general store, though no signage to this effect exists today. On this bright sunny spring day, Broad Creek was clear and moving quickly over rocks much as it did in the days when the Mill was busy. Spring wildflowers and daffodils dot the landscape and fields of cows are seen. The isolation of the Mill and miller's house veil it in a aura of past times.
