Step back in time on Smith Island

点评：We took the day cruise over to the island in mid June. Lots of bugs … bring your spray for sure!
Had lunch at the bayside…soft shell crab sandwich and rockfish basket … both with coleslaw. Pretty good…service was great! The hush puppies as an appetizer were the bomb! Finished with peanut butter smith island cake for dessert … yummy as expected!
Then explored a bit — Jack and Pickles (a little entertainment hut on the water offering arcade games, outdoor seating, snacks and Wi-Fi — a cute newer addition to the island), the post office (a small little must visit step back in time), the bakery ( lots more smith island cake options to choose from here as opposed to the Bayside!), the museum (nice historical and cultural experience for a $3 fee), and the Methodist church across from the museum (unlocked so we peaked inside… very old but nice!!). The gift shops on the island are a bit outdated so don’t expect much!
We also rented a golf cart for an hour ($25) and enjoyed just exploring the neighborhoods. The locals are super friendly!!! We couldn’t get to Rhodes Point due to road closure — bummer — not sure we needed the cart afterall coz you could basically walk to the places mentioned above. AND our golf cart broke down — we had to hike it back to the rental stand. We got another cart but wasted a lot of time walking and got no other compensation. The replacement cart was a nice gesture but our time was up!!! BTW, the guy running the cart rentals was a blast — funny, friendly, helpful!!!
Not sure we’d recommend this adventure… not a ton to do or see.
But it was a nice little afternoon just the same.

我们还租了一辆高尔夫球车一小时（25 美元），很享受探索街区的乐趣。当地人超级友善！！！由于道路封闭，我们无法到达罗兹角——真糟糕——毕竟不确定我们是否需要手推车，因为你基本上可以步行到上面提到的地方。我们的高尔夫球车坏了——我们不得不把它徒步回到租赁站。我们又买了一辆推车，但浪费了很多时间走路，也没有得到其他补偿。更换购物车是一个很好的举动，但我们的时间到了！顺便说一句，负责购物车租赁的那个人真是太棒了——有趣、友好、乐于助人！
不确定我们是否会推荐这次冒险……没有太多可做或可看的事情。
但这仍然是一个美好的小下午。
