Connie’s building won’t catch your eye, but the food will draw you back for a return meal.
This is truly a local favorite. The restaurant recently celebrated 40 years operates four days a week, serving only breakfast and lunch. That says a lot for its staying power (and its food). Both times we visited, there was at least one table of patrons drinking their sweet tea, finishing off their meal, and discussing the issues of the day.
On our second visit, the “front of house” gentleman brought us our beverages, pulled a chair up to our table, and sat down to tell us about the specials of the day. A new dish, which he described as “experimental” was exactly the type of food I like — angel hair pasta, cradling a breaded and fried chicken breast, topped with a crawfish cream sauce. The chicken piece was enormous, crispy and juicy. The sauce was heavenly. I had to ask for a to-go box.
I have no idea what my husband had, but he said it was good.
I wish we had a restaurant like this near home, but then it wouldn’t be a special treat.
