点评:During my Acadian vacation, I decided to include T-Coon's on my itinerary for an interesting Cajun experience. I'm only grading this visit for lunch but will mention a subsequent visit for breakfast. My first visit to T-Coon's had these takeaways: Floor just before getting to the cafeteria-style serving line was a little messy. Maybe the cleaner-uppers forgot that spot and it's certainly possible. I placed my order in the cafeteria-style line and a confused server managed to take care of things. What I got was a fried pork chop, jambalaya, red beans with rice, and a roll. Somehow, they didn't have brown gravy, so the server resorted to some gravy from the beef rib. That ended up being a nice touch to the meal. It was a flavorful pork chop, well-breaded and fried to perfection, but I somehow spotted two bones. Not a tragedy, mind you, but I still got some good meat out of it. The jambalaya was decent, and there seemed to be a hint of turkey in it. Since this is Cajun Country, I'll give the cooks the benefit of the doubt. The red beans had a marvelous flavor and it wasn't overpowering, mixed in with some mild sausage. Everything was washed down with good iced tea with refills from one of the other wait staff members who was much nicer than the lady from the serving line. And no visit would ever be complete without beignets, and I ordered them for dessert. Nice texture, and lots of powdered sugar!
There will be a second visit when I come back because I do want to try their smothered rabbit, which the folks here only serve on Monday. A couple of days after the initial visit, there was another visit for breakfast. When you come here for breakfast, you just seat yourself as there is no cafeteria line. All I'll say is, that morning was disappointing, as all that was good from that was the order of bacon and pretty good coffee. I won't bother telling you the rest of that order. Forgettable.
So, with that, we'll stick with lunch only at this venerable outpost. Too many inconsistencies kept the overall rating from being given a five, but I've seen worse. It is an extensive menu, nonetheless. There are other selections certainly worth a try here. The place does speak Cajun, so do check this place out if you can. And remember the beignets, too.
