Avenel Railway Station的点评
点评：Avenel Railway Station is proudly promoted by the locals, in their main street you will read a sign saying, "Avenel Railway Station opened in 1872. The station house features an original McKenzie & Holland lever frame". The station no longer utilises the frame, as it a 'through' station... no shunting has occurred into the sidings for a number of years.
There is an information board as you walk into the area giving comprehensive ( and rather interesting ) information about the history of the railway in the North East.
The reason you should visit the station though is because a local group of volunteers - 'The Stationeers' keep the gardens of this station in immaculate condition. I have visited at all times of the year and they are always beautiful, but Spring is my favourite time with the flush of colours as the flowers bloom. There is an avenue of trees as you walk up the ramp towards the platform and it has a very welcoming feel.
