点评：I found this fascinating that the community of Avenel in 1947 planted a tree for Princess Elizabeth's 21st birthday. It was only a few years later that the Princess was to become a Queen.
Elizabeth was Queen from February 6, 1952, to September 8, 2022. In 2015 she surpassed Victoria to become the longest-reigning monarch in British history.
She was the first reigning monarch to visit the country - a trip which took place in 1954. On that first trip the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited the ACT, New South Wales, Tasmania, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia, taking in 57 towns along the way.
At the time, the royal tour of 1954 was the single biggest event ever planned in Australia. Official printed programs stated that all those responsible for an event were to synchronise their watches with the A.B.C. time signals at 9am each day.
This is a humbling reminder of a woman who surpassed challenges and lived for the people.
