点评：This review is for the York Street location in Newport, KY. The Purple Poulet has its own parking lot. When you enter the restaurant, it has a warm welcoming feeling with art work and fancy tables. We were seated upstairs as we had no reservations. The waitress explained the menu and the specials. There is an extensive cocktail menu.
The restaurant is known for their fried chicken, but there was lots to choose from for all tastes. We ordered the fried chicken, veal pappardelle and the special of the night which was a bouillabaisse with halibut, mussels and shrimp.
The food came with 2 types of bread: corn and banana walnut.
The chicken was absolutely delicious- moist, flavorful and perfectly cooked. It came with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. The bouillabaisse had a tasty spicy broth and generous portions of fish. The veal pappardelle was the star of the meal. It had tender medallions of veal, mushrooms, ham and bacon with delicious pappardelle noodles.
Definitely would return to try more items on the menu.
The service was a bit slow, but it appeared they did not have enough servers for the amount of tables. You may have to wait a bit to order or pay, but I understand in the current work climate how it is hard to get enough help.
We ended the meal with 2 of their dessert options: coconut cake and chocolate peanut dilemma. The coconut cake had 11 layers and was served on a vanilla anglaise. It was light, fresh and delicious. The chocolate peanut dessert was 3 desserts in one. It was a chocolate mousse, brownie with nuts and a peanut butter Oreo crust cake.
Overall, it was a great experience. We will come back and recommend it. Enjoy!
