点评：Visiting the Palad Sandbar was one of the highlights of our visit to Maniwaya island. As with much of life timing is everything. It would make for quite a visual experience to be there as the sandbar emerges from beneath the water. It is likely that the low tide will occur during the day on your visit to Maniwaya Island but the time of maximal exposure will determine how many visitors will be on the sandbar with you.
In our case the sandbar was to start showing itself before sunrise. While we grumbled a little that due to the timing of the low-tide we would have to be up before dawn to visit the Palad Sand Bar it turned out to be for the best. We had a smooth boat ride as the water was calm at that time of day. The best aspect of this timing was that we had the sand bar all to ourselves when we arrived at exactly 7AM. The tide was still going out and the sandbar slowly expanding. The sand looked almost white. It was very tranquil and calming. Given that it was early in the day it was still relatively cool, even in the sun. Snorkeling around the sandbar was easy. There wasn’t much in the way of corals or sea life but it was encouraging to see large schools of tiny fingerlings; hopefully many would survive to become full-size adults. Other visitors started to arrive just after we pushed off the sandbar. Hard to believe we had the place to ourselves for almost an hour.
