Harris Farm Sugarhouse的点评
点评：On the dreary, dismal Maine Maple Sunday 2023, one of the places I visited was Harris Farm Sugarhouse, another phase of the farm’s operations. It was across the road from the main part of the farm and the Harris Farm Store which was open.
It was quite busy when I arrived at mid-afternoon. The parking lot was nearly full.
The Sugarhouse was open for demonstrations. I watched the evaporator operating at full capacity for awhile.
At a table outside, people were lined up to place orders for Uncle Ben’s Homemade Maple Sugared Donuts at $10.00 per half dozen. The table was in front of an open window in a kitchen-like room where several people were performing different tasks in making the donuts. So, the donuts being sold were freshly made.
Other maple treats were for sale. At a stand on the other side of the Sugarhouse, Pancake Bites with Maple Glaze were for sale. Someone walked past me with an order of them. They looked really good.
Also on the other side was the Self-guided Maple Walk and the pens with calves and cows to visit.
After inquiring about how lightly or heavily coated the donuts were, I got a half dozen of Uncle Ben’s Maple Sugared Donuts. I had one for an afternoon snack. The donuts were made with batter that had a very light texture. They weren’t greasy even though they were fried. The maple flavored sugar coating wasn’t overdone. There was just enough to sweeten the donuts. It was the best sugared donut I’d ever had. And, that’s saying something because I’m not a fan of sugary foods, especially ones in the sinful sweets category. In my opinion, Uncle Ben has a winning recipe for his donuts.
Like the other Harris Farm operations, I rate the Harris Farm Sugarhouse at 5.0 and highly recommend a visit.
The reason for the delay in submitting this review was due to a months-long loss of my ability to post photos with my reviews and some health issues.
