点评:Romeus Cuban Restaurant
This restaurant Is a hit or miss. Today took the cake! I was suggested to get something here for lunch while on break from my job. I order a large soup for $6.16. They come out 15 minutes later handing me the food. I thought to myself, not bad timing. When I received the bag, I was expecting a large soup but to my surprise, I later found out they were two smalls. I couldn’t tell since they were stacked on top of each other, inside the bag. And looked as though it were one large soup. Also the bag was sealed with a sticky receipt.
I didn’t really mind since the two sizes equals a large, even though for some reason it’s priced higher if you purchase them both as smalls. But, in this case they only charged me $6.16 .
When I arrived home, I opened the bag only to find hardly any noodles or chicken inside of them. It was 95% all liquid.
If I knew it was like this, I would’ve never set foot inside. So I called the restaurant and a man picks up and immediately says “please holed”. Before I can even get a word in, I’m quickly prompted to an automated phone messaging system, explaining all their restaurant amenities they have to offer. I wait 26 minutes until I decide they may have forgotten me because they’re so busy. This was around 2:00pm in the afternoon.
I call back and the guy picks up and blurbs again “please hold”. This happened 8 times and by that time, he was forwarding my call strait to the phone messaging system without talking. All I wanted to say was, “can I speak to the manager please”?
Now to a professional 5 star restaurant, you wont normally get that type of reply or treatment. In my opinion that’s rude and extremely unprofessional. I understand your restaurant is busy and maybe understaffed, but professionalism is not Romeus business model of practice. Maybe if this happened once, I’d let it go, but 8 times with this guy at the takeout counter and twice with the woman named Sarah Barrow. I had to practically shout through the phone to relay the rest of my sentence before she actually recognized my frustration. And at that point I’m pretty sure Sara heard my distress, in my voice.
I’ve eaten here with special celebrities, corporate, religious, birthdays, anniversary events and celebrations, but never have I ever been treated as bad as this before.
Sara kindly offered me to come back to exchange my two soups with the proof of receipt. Now, I live on the other side of town mind you, my soup is already cold and I’m already expected back to the office.
I explained at this point, I don’t even care about the food anymore. That was obvious since all that I went through and wasn’t sure what to expect, if I went back.
I explained to Sara, how frustrating it is to call the restaurant and immediately be placed on hold for a long time. And to come back to replace the soup. I understand maybe for a large meal but come on, this is minuscule. I’ve seen larger serving sizes for way less at a nice Cuban restaurant.
I can’t imagine how they’d treat maybe a family member or close friends? Probably not in the same way they treated me.
I don’t believe the owners know because I’ve met them and they always treated us with kindness. Maybe it’s the younger generation, but really, there’s no excuse.
